Now that I have 2 kids under two, I see firsthand how an involved father makes a difference to a child’s life and is vital to building strong families. I am thankful for my husbands humility, strength and perseverance, especially when I know it is not easy. There are no two fathers alike but one thing they all have in common is that they all deserve support and a system set up to help them thrive in not only their families but in life.
That is exactly with MFC is about. Helping fathers, families, and building strong communities. This year we are raising funds to support recruitment efforts to access even more fathers in the community. This is vital in order to reach as many fathers as possible and let them know of the free services MFC can offer them. Thank you so much for joining me in donating to our mission. When fathers are actively involved with their children, children do better- MUCH BETTER! Research suggests that fathers are critical for a child’s development.
Your support helps dads like Jarrell. He came to MFC as a single dad with two little girls and was feeling overwhelmed about managing work and parenting and providing for his daughters. MFC helped Jarrell attain certification with a flexible job AND helped him find another awesome job opportunity that is remote! His daughters love coming to MFC too and draw pictures for Jarrell's Intervention Specialist, who tells the girls "Your dad loves you so much, and You have a great dad."
There are 50,000 single-parent households in the Midlands! When dads are absent children are 3 times as likely to live in poverty. They are also more susceptible to abuse, and neglect and more likely to drop of out school, have behavior problems, use drugs, and end up incarcerated. The solution is to equip and support fathers so that they can be responsible and positively engaged dads. A key goal for 2023 is to increase outreach and marketing so that we can recruit more fathers into our free program. Your help makes it possible!
