Recently on 4/9/2024, our beloved truck "Black Betty" met a tragic end in a hay fire on our new farm land. Black Betty was more than just a vehicle; she was the heart of NuLegacy and a trusted companion on countless journeys of healing and growth for over a decade. Losing her is more than a logistical setback—it interrupts our ability to effectively continue our transformative work across both rural and urban New York.
Our truck was instrumental in our outreach efforts, enabling us to transport supplies, facilitate educational programs, and ensure that participants could access the healing spaces we’ve cultivated. As we expand our projects like the stewardship of "The People’s Land" - our new farm land upstate - and further our urban initiatives, the need for a dependable vehicle becomes even more pressing.
We are seeking to raise $44,000 to purchase a new 2021 Ford F-150. This new truck will be pivotal in sustaining and expanding our efforts, allowing us to continue Chino’s dedication to fostering healing, promoting environmental stewardship, and enhancing community connections.
