Remington ACC NYC

Remington ACC NYC

From Cynthia Young

We are raising money for Remington, a year old pit bull rescued from ACC NYC Brooklyn. This was a tough one. But he is finally here in North Carolina and we are working with him to incorporate in with other dogs.

We were told to be in Brooklyn NY by Wednesday or he would be put to sleep. When we got there we were told no "meet and greet". They brought him out in a black wire cage covered in poop and pee (him and the cage) with two broom sticks slid through the cage to carry it because they were too afraid of him. He had been in that cage for five days with no walks. I'm not clear on how he was being fed. They struggled putting the big cage in our car and asked how far we were traveling because the cage was at a tilt. We told them about four hours and they said he couldn't stay like that. We asked if they would like to take him back out... crickets. As we closed the door to the car with him and his poopy cage inside, we heard on staff member say to another "well, expect a call when they drop him off at the next shelter". All we could say was "you understand this is a veterinarian taking him don't you and we also took Goose a year ago?". The first rest area we got to out of the city, we opened the car door, opened the cage door, let him jump out and leashed him with no trouble. We threw the cage out and cleaned him up without a growl or any resistance. And he rode politely in a seat until we reached a Hilton Hotel that allowed dogs overnight. HE IS A GOOD BOY!!
