In an effort to destigmatize the mental health crisis being faced in the often private veterinary world, Dr. Woon - an avid story-teller - envisioned the creation of The Secret Lives of Vets™. Through these candid discussions and the sharing of these unheard, heartfelt and inspiring vet stories, Dr. Woon aims to give listeners a glimpse into the inner world of veterinarians and bring attention to the alarming suicide rate prevalent in her profession.

Veterinarians suffer disproportionately from mental health struggles, and 1 out of 6 veterinarians experiences suicidal thoughts. The Secret Lives of Vets™ isn't just a podcast; it's a platform where voices of the often-overlooked veterinary community are amplified, celebrated and supported. We will share stories of resilience from veterinarians with a diversity of backgrounds. 

By unashamedly delving into their fascinating personal lives, as well as divulging her own experiences, Dr. Woon uncovers the hard lessons learned as well as redeeming triumphs, ultimately inspiring hope in fellow veterinarians and listeners.

Your contribution, no matter how small, will play an integral part in bringing these narratives to the forefront, fostering understanding and connection amongst listeners and the heroes who dedicate their lives to saving animals. 

Our fundraising target will facilitate the production of premium quality, professionally-produced podcast complete with visual footage. The funding will enable purchase of high quality audio-visual equipment required, in addition to funding professional editing for each episode as well as advertising for the podcast itself. 

Expenses are as follows:

1. Audio-visual equipment $3,200

• Microphones & Accessories: We will invest in the renowned RODE NT1-A Condenser Microphones for capturing crisp and clear audio, accompanied by necessary accessories like pop filters and RODE PSA1 Swivel Mount Studio Microphone Boom Arms.

• Cameras: Equipped with Canon EOS 5D Mark IV cameras and high-quality lenses such as the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM, we will ensure HD video quality without compromising the fluidity of each episode.

• Recording & Editing Software: To seamlessly blend the audio and visual elements, we will utilize Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition, known for their reliability and user-friendliness.

2. Professional Editing - $2,400:

• Audio Mastering: Each episode will be professionally edited using Adobe Audition to eliminate background noise, improve sound quality, and ensure an enjoyable listening experience.

• Visual Editing: Visual editing will be carried out to enhance the overall visual appeal of the podcast.

3. Social Media Advertising & Outreach - $2,400

• Advertisement Creation: We will collaborate with professional designers to create engaging and visually captivating ads tailored for various social media platforms.

• Ad Placement: Funds will be allocated for paid promotions on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, strategically targeting audiences who share our passion and interest in veterinary lives and stories.

4. Branding & Merchandise $888.88

Logo Design: Collaborating with a professional graphic designer to create a distinctive and memorable logo for The Secret Lives of Vets™ podcast.

Merchandise Production: Creating promotional merchandise items to help spread the brand. This may include producing items such as t-shirts, mugs, caps, and other branded merchandise.

Advertising and Promotion: Social Media Advertising: Allocating funds to promote the podcast on various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. This includes creating visually captivating ads and boosting visibility to engage with a broader audience.

Local Media Networks in Los Angeles: Investing in advertising spots on local media networks and television channels in Los Angeles to reach a local audience. This can include commercials, sponsored segments, or partnerships with local media outlets to promote the podcast.

Merchandise Promotion: Using a portion of the budget to promote and distribute branded merchandise, including giveaways, contests, and promotional events.
