To raise money for the LTF, an organization that gave my Dad more precious time with us, that he was incredibly passionate about.

My dad was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2003. In 2007, my parents moved to North Carolina, to be near Duke University; my brother was working there at the time, and they were known to have one of the best transplant programs in the country. My dad had a double lung transplant in 2008. In his time at Duke, Dad made many great friends in the lung transplant community, and became very involved with the Lung Transplant Foundation. He helped plan the first Lungapalooza event (to raise money for the LTF) and, along with his buddy Harry, came up with the idea of holding a golf tournament as a fundraiser. The first annual LTF Golf tournament was held on June 5 2011; Dad passed away on June 24 2011. We as a family were greatly honored when we learned that the LTF had decided to rename the tournament the Fred Krenrich Classic.
My dad died of Bronchiolitis Obliterans Syndrome, or BOS, as did his (and our) dear friend Amber Wesemann. The LTF is working to find a cure to BOS, to give people a longer chance at life after lung transplantation.
And, a couple of things that I would like to share; for people who didn't know my dad:
A great article that was written about him when he passed away, his caring bridge site, and a news story about my dad, his donor ryan and ryan's mom dolores.
Thank you everyone, for joining me in this amazing cause.
