A Total Cluster

From Chris Thompson

I'm requesting assistance for a whole myriad of things that have gone sideways in my life between unpaid funeral expenses and unpaid debts for my father, car repairs, debt, and other personal matters.

Oh boy where do I even begin....

To anyone who sees this, please allow me to explain the situation I’m in and plead my case as to why I’m requesting your assistance. I’ll do my best to cut to the chase, and there’s a lot to cover so bear with me,

I’m requesting assistance for the following reasons:

1. Funeral expenses.

My father passed away a month ago, February 1st, and there’s still some of the balance left over that’s due since he unfortunately didn’t prepare anything ahead of time despite knowing he was diagnosed with an incurable disease leaving my brother and I with the expenses. This had forced me to dip into withdrawing funds from my investing account I worked hard on building up over a few years.

My father had Parkinsons Disease if you needed to know.

Cost remaining: ~$2600

2. Father’s Remaining Debts.

While my father was alive he resided in a specialized nursing facility that handled Parkinsons patients, and while attempting to get him on Medicaid to assist with monthly residential dues the facility, by some indescribable feat of fumbling, lost all the initial paperwork while claiming to have never had it in the first place. With no way of proving their mistake I had to start over again, and the amount owed got rung up on a tab over the course of several months which have gone unpaid. It’s easily around the $30k mark, Not to mention the nightmare it has been trying to deal with the IRS for his unpaid taxes.

Cost: ~$30-$50k

3. Transportation.

Today, March 1st 2024, I was told by the local dealership my car had two major modules, ABS and power steering, completely fail which would explain why any previous fixes within my best mechanical ability didn’t resolve anything. So the cost for them both to be replaced is just north of $4000. I don’t have the means at the moment to buy another vehicle since I will have to charge this repair bill to one of my credit cards. The means to buy a newer car would be absolutely fantastic, and nothing crazy like a luxury sedan or a fully loaded pickup since a used newer Honda or something of the sort would suffice, but I don’t have anywhere near $20k-$25k for something decent.

Cost: $4000-$25k

4. Personal Debt.

Back in 2022 I moved across the country to start a new chapter in my life, and as a means to assist in funding my trip I dipped into my credit pool for lodging, fuel, food, pre-trip vehicle preparations, and so on...only for everything to collapse underneath my feet not even a week after getting there. So I was forced to relocate and have been continuing to pay off that debt since then. With the upcoming major repair bill to my car I’ll be buried even further and there’s only so much I can do with what I make at my current job which provides a rather paltry bi-weekly sum despite my best attempts to make minimum monthly payments.

Cost: $2000-$15k

5, Living Situation.

I’m not going to sugarcoat this one as it involves a couple incidents that had me get caught in the crossfire of violent conflict between family members that wound up with me becoming a witness in a court case, and an angry roommate wielding a loaded firearm whilst drunk. As grateful as I am to my roommate’s father for letting me stay with them I honestly don’t feel safe staying under the same roof with my current roommate knowing his temperament that, if left unchecked, could get me seriously hurt or killed. As for where I can go I could try to stay with family, but that’s a whole ordeal in of itself. All I know is that I need to get out of here.

Cost: N/A

6. Family & Travel.

Now this one is entirely personal. I live in the middle of the country and I rarely, if ever, get to visit my family members who are on both the east and west coasts. As we all know, flying is pricey these days and so is fuel, hotels, food, and the like. I don’t get to see them as often as I should. The last time I saw my family on the east coast was 5 years ago, and the last time I got to see my family on the west coast was nearly 3 years. It’s especially hard when you have brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews you love so much.

As for the travel side of things, I’ve been craving for a new adventure abroad ever since I caught the travel bug after experiencing my first international trip back in January 2020. It was truly something special, and I would LOVE to experience more of that, but once again the cost of everything going up has made it difficult.

Cost: N/A

Minimum total for highest priority items (1-4):

$38,600

Maximum total for highest priority items (1-4):

$92,600

I’ve provided rough estimates as a means to provide some sort of transparency for more legitimacy so with that said I would very much appreciate any help with all of this. Anything, and I mean ANYTHING, would be of great help whether it’s donations or spreading the word. As you can see, things aren’t exactly going so great in my life at the moment so I’m just seeing what’s out there for assistance.Thank you for reading my plea, and may you have a blessed day!
