More Info

Dear Friends,

Our beloved Allison was diagnosed in the summer of 2015 with a very rare type of cancer called pseudomyxoma peritonei, also known as PMP. She had planned to start law school, her lifelong dream, at the University of Virginia that fall, but had to postpone law school for a year due to her need for a major, invasive surgery soon after being diagnosed. The surgery went very smoothly, however, the surgeon was unable to remove all tumor material because it happened to be on vital structures, making it too dangerous. After recovering for a few months from her surgery, much faster than anticipated by her doctors, she was able to begin law school in the fall of 2016. As the incredibly strong woman that she is, Allison appeared to be living the life of a normal 26-year-old while battling cancer at the same time. However, around May 2017, her cancer returned. Allison was forced to postpone her 2nd year of law school and instead had an emergency surgery, similar to her first surgery, in November 2017 in order to decrease her tumor load. Unfortunately, she has been facing countless complications with this surgery, one of which has left her unable to eat ever since the surgery, leaving her to solely rely on IV nutrition. In the coming weeks, she is hoping to start chemotherapy to continue battling the cancer.

Throughout her incredibly tough battle with cancer, Allison has remained the strong, positive, and compassionate woman for whom we all love and care. It is impossible to imagine what she is going through, but with the kindness and compassion of her loved ones, it is possible that her journey may become that much easier. As she is unable to work or go to school, she would greatly appreciate any funds to help with medical bills and help her continue to live a normal life. She would also love any kind words giving her strength through this extremely difficult time and reminding her how much we all love and care for her.
