My Alternative Break.

I am currently a second year at UC San Diego majoring in Human Development and minoring in Urban Studies & Planning. This year for my 2014 spring break, I will be travelling to La Represa with my amazing Alternative Break: Dominican Republic team to restore and develop the community.

Plan of Action.

In this rural community, we plan to inspire progress in community restoration through children’s education and women’s empowerment. We will be working with the La Represa community members and with our non-profit organization partner, Service for Peace, to develop the impoverished community. To promote quality children’s education, we will create lasting lesson plans, renovating and building school infrastructure, and establishing lasting friendships that will inspire the children. We will also assist and support the women’s cocoa farming enterprise to strengthen the foundation of empowerment for the community and individuals.

The Journey.

I am so grateful for the life I have that I want to help others that are less fortunate than I am by directly giving service, inspiring them, or giving them the opportunity for a better life.

Through education, orientating and training, my team and I will develop an impoverished community while combating social justice issues. We will be immersing ourselves into the culture to understand the locals and the culture itself to ensure quality progress.

The Pursuit.

Please join me in my pursuit in becoming a globally conscious active citizen by supporting my cause!
