About Me

I am a 37-year-old freelance writer and bartender who lives in Raleigh, North Carolina. I have always had a distinct passion for stories, which, in turn, led to a near-constant pursuit of new travel adventures. One thing that has always felt missing from my trips, however, is the ability to give back a little bit of what this wonderful world has given me. This trip, which I hope will be the first of many with Habitat and other similar organizations, is my first attempt at finding new purpose in my travels. I hope you can help me in my efforts to provide shelter for the people in Nepal. Thank you!

More Info

In the wake of the earthquakes in Nepal, we need to work together more than ever to provide pathways to permanence for the families affected. We invite you to join our team in partnering with disaster-affected families as they begin their recovery of their lives and livelihoods in their communities. Your donation will help Habitat build more permanent homes sooner.

Habitat’s Disaster Work in Nepal

Habitat for Humanity plans to help 20,000 families in cooperation with the government of Nepal and humanitarian agency partners. With the help of partners and volunteers, Habitat will remove rubble, distribute emergency shelter kits, and build transitional and permanent shelters.

Global Village is Habitat for Humanity’s international volunteer program. Teams travel to over 40 countries to work alongside communities, build housing solutions, and experience local culture. Our goal is to change the lives of the people we serve, as well as the lives of the volunteers.

About Habitat for Humanity International

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 1,300 communities throughout the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
