Attorney Fees

Divorce is nothing if not a long, arduous, emotional process, and the exorbitant expense of attorneys, mediators, etc. tends to make things that much more frustrating. The legal aspect of my divorce journey officially began in May of 2016 and continues to this day.

I was recently served by my ex-husband in an attempt to negotiate the amount of child support he pays monthly based on a change in his job status. To date, I have spent in excess of $40K on the divorce and post-divorce process. Good attorneys are expensive, great attorneys are *really* expensive. Finding one you trust to take care of you is priceless. I am fortunate in that I have found a good attorney whom I trust, but finding the funds to pay any attorney is difficult on a teacher's salary (and with no child support coming in while my children's father is out of work).
