Living in Indiana has always been a challenge for many LGBTQ+ people. When I moved back to my hometown 3 years ago, I saw that there wasn’t much bringing the LGBTQ+ Community together.

Over the past few years, I’ve worked to provide community networking and events to do just that. But, we want to provide more and Badlands will be just that!

As for me, I have over 10 years of experience helping bars, nightclubs, and restaurants be successful. I have over 25 years of marketing & professional experience. And, to ensure our success, I’m working with the small business development council and local successful bar/restaurant owners as mentors.

What will it be like? Badlands will offer a lunch cafe in an area that doesn’t have a lunch spot. We will feature craft cocktails, craft beer, wine, live entertainment, events, and an array of diverse programming. Badlands will be a true safe space where the LGBTQ+ community in East Central Indiana as well as an inclusive and welcoming space for our allies. Our hope is that it will also serve to educate and build bridges to better understanding.

Badlands will be located close to Ball State University and close to downtown Muncie. This will give us the unique opportunity to bring staff, educators, and students together with the Muncie Community. We will welcome them all!

The funds raised here will go towards the down payment on the small business loan and initial operating expenses. We are purchasing an existing bar and it needs updating, some new equipment, as well as cosmetic changes.
