“Cavett Kids helped make having cancer better. Some kids with really bad illnesses can’t go to regular camp because there aren’t doctors there. Camp Cavett is just for us."

About The Team

Her take on Cavett Kids Programs:“I attended Camp Cavett for the first time in 2013. This will be my second year, and I CAN’T WAIT!!!!! My favorite thing about Camp Cavett is the Giant Water Slide. I liked making necklaces out of seashells with my friends. One of my favorite camp memories is the day we went fishing. I got to do it with a friend. We didn’t get a lot of fish that day, and I think we won the smallest fish award. I also got an award for the biggest catfish, but it would have won an award for smallest catfish also if that was a thing!”

A word from her parents: First of all, the playtime and art time in the clinic is Isabelle’s favorite thing.  She looks forward to clinic visits and always has after that first visit when she got to do art.  It is not “going to the cancer doctor,” it’s “visiting her friends and making things together.” Camp was great for her and for us as parents as well.  She left on that bus the first year nervous and a little scared.  She came back strong and independent.  She talked about camp for months and then just transitioned into talking about next year at camp.  In January, I finally just made her a countdown on her iPod.  Cavett Kids helps kids with illnesses feel like kids again.”

More Info

Camp Champ Challenge is a new fundraising event where participants form teams of 5 and compete against each other throughout the night in individual, partner and group challenges. Teams are encouraged to recruit people to be in their “Fan Club” to help cheer them on that night. Each team will be assigned a very special Cavett Kid to be their "Camper Coach" during the event. It will take place at Riverwind in Norman, OK on May 30, 2014.

The challenges will be based on four categories: Sensory, Physical, Artistic and Intellectual. They will be fun and interactive, and some may even give participants a chance to experience what it is like to be a Cavett Kid. Points will be awarded in several ways, such as winning a challenge, most fans recruited, most money raised, best costumes, etc. To keep things fair and square, the specific details of the main challenges will remain a secret until they are announced at the event. There will be other small challenges that will be shared with the teams so that they can come prepared!

After the main challenge is over and the points are tallied, the top 3 teams will be sent to the bonus round and given a special challenge, “Danny’s Challenge,” to determine who the overall Camp Champs will be. Once the Camp Champs have been announced, the event will end with a Camp Dance where a Camp King and Queen will be crowned. Nominations for King and Queen will be open to the public… The more nominations, the more opportunities we have to spread the word about Cavett Kids!
