Church Plants in Africa

Church Plants in Africa

From J.J. Mancini

We are helping raise funds for a guy here in ZA, his goal: To continue to do ministry in Cape Town, then to go the Antioch church planting school in Oklahoma and come back to Africa to plant churches for God’s glory!

Hey Everyone.
Thank you all for being a part of this journey and for giving both in prayer and financially. I would like to especially thank those who gave anonymously, and even though I don't know who you are I am deeply thankful to the Lord for you. I am excited all the more to continue with ministry here and to be in the States.

I am still in the process of being registered with the Trust, all the documents are in and we await the approval, which we hope is soon!
Things are going well ministry wise, i am continuing with discipleships and lifegroup. We are very excited to have our first of many short term teams join us next week. They are from Waco and are here from the 8th of May till the 27th of May. They will be helping us with outreach, once-off events and work in the townships. We are excited to see how God will work through these teams and who He will bring across our paths. I will send more updates as they happen.

Thank you for considering to be part of the journey God has for me! My name is [Removed for Privacy] and I get to call one of the most beautiful places on earth, Cape Town, South Africa, my home.

It was on a Christian Camp my journey got started, and I was changed by the message Jesus was King, and He had a radical journey for me. After encountering Jesus, I got more involved with my local church, becoming a youth leader, and eventually a year out of school, I began a two year apprentice program at the church, then went on to seminary getting my degree in Theology. It changed my life, and through it I got excited about sharing Jesus with others, learning about the Bible and starting churches for the rest of my life!

For six years, I was investing in a Youth Ministry here in Cape Town. In the sixth year of Youth Ministry, transitions were coming, so I had been praying for God to provide my next step. It was that year, I met the lead pastor of Antioch Church Cape Town. The vision of Antioch Church is to reach University of Cape Town for Jesus! We want to disciple world changers, who will go back into Cape Town and change the city, and who will also go into South Africa and the rest of Africa and change the continent! We have ministry in and around UCT, we have ministries in the townships, an anti-trafficking ministry, lifegroups, discipleships and even sports ministries! The Lord's voice was clear: "Dive in, all in." I knew He had incredible plans for me, and I knew Antioch Church was my next step.

In the first year of Antioch Church, we saw students come to know Jesus and walk in their true identity. We saw the church community grow and God adding to our numbers. We saw lives being saved and transformed forever. Acts 2:42-47 happened before our eyes, we were and still are deeply thankful to Jesus! We now have a weekly gathering on Sundays, have 4 weekly lifegroups, have 9 short term teams coming this year to serve Cape Town and it’s only the beginning!

Starting a new church plant, there are many roles to play and we all carry the conviction and vision of advancing God’s Kingdom in Cape Town through Antioch. My roles currently are leading a lifegroup, discipling students, starting house churches in the township Langa, being on the worship team, and facilitating short term teams. Since January 2014, I have volunteered being on staff. It has been a year of trusting God to provide, and He has every time. Antioch has training schools in the U.S., which include a discipleship program and church planting school. It is my desire to attend both of these programs at Antioch Norman next year, in order to come back and continue the vision of Antioch Cape Town. My hope is to apply for a visa in July and be in the U.S. by August, before the school starts.

In moving forward, I am looking for people to join me in this journey. There are a few ways to support me, one being a prayer partner. Prayer is vital in advancing the Kingdom, and we could not do what we do without our prayer warriors standing in the gap for us. Another way is joining my financial partner team. Being on full time support will allow me to be employed by Antioch, which will be a huge blessing moving forward. All financial donations will go through the Antioch Church Cape Town account.

My hope is to raise R18,500 per month ($1,540) for six months. This will allow me to finish my time here in Cape Town before moving to the States for training. If you would like to know more about how to partner with me, see my budget or here more of the heart and vision for Antioch Cape Town, I would love to set up a time to talk or Skype with you.

I believe that Jesus is fulfilling his great commission through many churches and people here, and I am excited to play a part in it! We believe that the church can change the world, it can heal broken hearts and homes, and bring people to a life changing relationship with Jesus! I hope and pray that you can be a part of this vision and journey here in Africa!
