Update #4

Scott and I have been prepping to take 36 Cuddle Cubs and CDs tomorrow morning to Florida Hospital-Altamonte. Soon, we'll send 12 to my mom in my hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska to have her deliver to St. Elizabeth's hospital where I was a teen volunteer years ago on the Labor & Delivery floor and where a dear friend is a NICU nurse in charge of bereavement.

As I fluffed each bear and tied a note I'd written onto the cub, I was so grateful for those of you who gave, providing tangible comfort into the arms of an aching mom.

Pray with us for the 48 families who will have had to say excruciating goodbyes to their baby(ies) when they receive these bears?

More Info

When I received a Comfort Cub, I became the 4th in a line of women touched by loss and the gift that placed weight into empty arms and acknowledged the weight of a precious life lost.

My tiny Gabriel was my 2nd miscarriage, delivered at 15 weeks on December 6, 2016.

My bear and precious letter was from Erin Ashley, a mama who'd lost a baby girl at birth. She'd received her bear from Lindsey, a mama who held then said goodbye to two baby girls. Lindsey received her bear from her nurse who'd experienced loss.

Last November, Erin Ashley and her family presented 12 Comfort Cubs the head nurse of Labor & Delivery at Florida Hospital-Altamonte.

A month later, on December 6, 2017, I received one of those bears.

This week I learned that there is only 1 bear left, meaning 11 of us mamas (and families) have lost a baby in just 6 months at this hospital in this little part of the globe. My heart drops with that news, knowing that my story of delivery of a tiny baby in miscarriage at a hospital is rare. Wow, what would that number have been if we also knew how many miscarriages happened outside the hospital walls in those months?

With Gabriel's original due date being Monday, would you consider investing in the purchase toward 24 CDs and 24 bears that can be placed into the arms of more hurting moms and dads? Once purchased, our family will take them to Florida Hospital-Altamonte's labor and delivery floor where we had Gabriel and received our bear.

Update #3

Are you all sitting down? 45 bears!!! That's almost double the original amount we prayed God would provide. A few nurses from Altamonte want to still be able to give, so we will keep this site open until tomorrow morning. Pray with us as we decide where the extra bears will go--how wonderful it'd be to see this ministry of comfort be launched in other hospitals! Stay tuned. We are so very thankful and sense God doing something very big. Thank you to everyone who has invested!

Update #2

Generosity is overflowing--31.67 (ha!) bears and CDs have been funded! The special price I received was per case (1 case=6 bears). Is there any way, if you'd wanted to give and hadn't, that you'd consider giving toward $221 needed by the end of today that would get us funding for 36 (6 cases)?

Update #1

Oh my goodness! While our family slept, God moved more hearts to invest and 24 comfort cubs and 24 CDs are FULLY FUNDED! Thank you, friends! If you'd wanted to give, please do. Sadly, there will always be more families marked by loss who could use comfort like this. We'll extended the fundraising goal date to tomorrow (Tuesday). On Wednesday, we'll see what God has done and make all purchases. When they arrive, our family will hand deliver the gifts to the hospital and let you know. On this sad day, our hearts are full and rejoicing.
