Update #5

It's difficult to believe I just spent 10 days on the west coast training for over 8hrs a day and did the same in San Antonio back in July. Both trips seem like a surreal dream that I'm kinda questioning if they really happened. As the summer is coming to a close I just wanted to give a huge thank you to all that helped me get to these tap dance festivals, there is far too many names to mention. I had the time of my life, got my butt kicked by incredible teachers and made many new friends from cities all around North America. I am feeling so inspired, I'm ready to shed and create and am loving tap dance more than ever. Hope your summer was as unbelievably great as mine =)

More Info

First and foremost... I'm raising money to further my education in tap dance and intend to bring what I learn on my summer training tour to enrich the lives of dancers in the community I live and teach in.

About Me

My name is Connor and I come from a family of 6. I am a 20 year old student, tap dancer, teacher and choreographer based out of Calgary Alberta. I teach at King Edgar Dance Studio, assist Tasha Lawson with the Tri-Tone Youth Rhythm Ensemble and train in her pre-professional company. I will be entering my third year of Geophysics at the University of Calgary this September. I work to pay for my tuition teaching tap dance part time and landscaping all summer.

One thing at twenty I'm sure of - I will be involved in Dance for the rest of my life. Tap dance is where my heart lies and I'd like to share my passion with all.

Intention: "Pay it Forward"

I am extremely grateful for the support I have received in the past which has allowed me to pursue my love of dance and continue my development. Through help from others I've realized the importance of continuing my training as well as "paying it forward."

From your donations I see it as my responsibility to give back to the community in sharing everything I've learned with all my current and future students. This fall I am planning an outreach program through Tri-Tone where I will volunteer my time in order to teach kids who can't afford standard dance classes as I have personally come to understand how much of a difference it can make when someone donates time and money to help out.

What For?

Through donating you will make these possible, in order of which I will spend the money on first

  • Third Coast Rhythm Project -1200$ mark- July 15th-19th - Located in San Antonio. Costs include registration and accommodation. I am extremely grateful to say air miles have already been donated for this trip.
  • Vancouver international Tap festival -3000$ mark- registration, flights, accommodation
  • Gabriola Island -4000$ mark- Spend a week on an island in BC working intimately with several professionals. I was fortunate to attend this last year and it was the experience of a lifetime.

Stay Tuned...

Thanks so much for your support in not only enriching my life but aiding any of those in the community I will work with. Stay tuned for further updates, as I will be sure to keep you posted! =)

Update #4

Big shout out to King Edgar Dance Studio who raised 2265$ within the first 5 DAYS of the fundraiser (whaaaat?!?). I'm also extremely happy to announce I have been given the support of the Vancouver Tap Dance Society as I have been granted the Jeni Legon Scholarship (will help cover class fees). Between those two and my Fundly campaign, the goal of 4000$ has been surpassed. The feeling of empowerment the community has given me is incredible, I've felt like I could accomplish anything the past few days. My desk is littered with cards of support, encouragement and thanks from students and the phenomenal people around me.

My campaign will be removed by the end of the month but I will be sure to post updates about my journeys this summer, first one July 15th - I'm counting down the days =D
Thanks to all! I'm so so grateful and have a great summer!

Update #3

This is incredible.
On Fundly we have reached 850$ mark. In person I have had 680$ donated. With a total of 1530$ my first milestone has been surpassed. and now we're funding for Vancouver. Honestly, this has already been more of a success than I ever imagined. San Antonio get ready, turns out I'm going to Third Coast Rhythm Project. I couldn't be more grateful for all the positive feedback and support I've received from the community. Hopefully there's more to come!
