Covered Bridges - preserving history with art

From Nate Duffney

I am a new career artist and trying to photograph and paint all the wood covered bridges in my region to preserve history as they are being removed or destroyed by road maintenance or nature.

I am a new career artist and stay at home father of three children, one of which has been diagnosed with autism. I use my art to help him and as a way to express myself and hopefully earn a little income on the side to help provide for my family. I started focusing on oil paint as a primary medium to create landscape paintings and started to paint local landmarks to practice and preserve their history. I learned a few historical wooden covered bridges were scheduled to be demolished and a couple others had been destroyed by river flooding and started campaigning the Canada Council for the Arts to receive funding to photograph and paint the remaining historical wooden covered bridges before they too were lost, but did not receive any funding from the government. So I am campaigning now for funding to help me preserve these historical landmarks before more are lost!
