I'm fundraising for my husband, a 34 year old father of 2 that's fighting a very aggressive and rare form of bladder cancer. The financial burden is staggering and anything helps, thank you!

Darrell had his first chemo infusion yesterday and handled it well. It was an 8 hour visit, and on the way home the AC in our car stopped working. Typically he would be able to fix this the same day but he just isn't physically able to and we dont have the means to cover the cost financially. The hospital he receives his treatment at is 2 hours away and neither of us can handle the heat during the drive so its imperative that we get this fixed for his health and safety.
Hey there everyone, this is Sammi, Darrell's wife. As many of our friends and family know, Darrell was diagnosed in April with a very aggressive form of bladder cancer (High-grade urothelial carcinoma with the plasmacytoid and muscle invasion variants.) We are in for the fight of our lives and want to pursue every option available to him. Unfortunately, many treatments are light-years away from what we can afford or are not covered by insurance at all. We also have a *LOT* of travel ahead of us. He is being seen by Moffitt Cencer Centers. They're located over in Tampa about 2 hours from us. His surgeon and oncologist are incredible and we believe they'll give him the best chance at beating this thing. Currently he's scheduled for 4 rounds of MVAC chemotherapy at the greatest strength they're able to administer. After those 4 rounds they'll do a PET scan and determine if hes a candidate for surgery yet. If not, Dr J the chemo dr will determine if he needs 4-6 more treatments. If he is, they'll move forward with removing his bladder, prostate, and all of the lymph nodes (one of which is already clearly positive) in his pelvis. After surgery he'll have another PET and that will tell us if he has to have more chemo, radiation, or a mixture of the two. He'll have an urostomy and will have a fairly long heal time after he (hopefully) reaches remission. He works for a great company that is ensuring he has a place to go back to when he's ready and he's dedicated on getting there.
Every little bit makes a difference and we're so thankful for it! I'm going to continue to update here for those friends and family that don't do social media. Quality of life and healing are our priorities, and we could use all the prayers, good vibes, whatever you have to give to help fight the good fight! All my sweet husband wants is to be able to watch his daughters grow, to give them away when they find their sweethearts, to snuggle his grandbabies someday. He is such a hardworking incredible man and deserves the world.
We'll also be addressing with Moffitt some nodules that were found in his lung during the PET scan he recently had (in may, he has another coming up) that didn't show as cancer but that were noted and said should be followed up on.
Financially his short term disability has run out and he didn't purchase long term. We've applied for SSD for him and have retained an attorney to help us but they're telling us it is going to be at least 8-14 months before we hear anything.
Thanks everyone for loving my little family. We appreciate everyone so much!
