About The Team

March 2018, Deborah Laster had her annual mammogram. Due to her family’s history of breast cancer she was high risk, therefore since age 40 she has not missed a year. However, the 2018 test results would change her life.  She had an abnormal mammogram.  Deborah was diagnosed with stage 1 infiltrated ductal carcinoma. Her younger sister had the same type of breast cancer in 2012 and has had a successful outcome. Therefore, Deborah was hopeful.

Deborah’s oncologist said, her annual mammogram saved her life. With early detection her prognosis is good. April 2018, she had a lumpectomy and radiation therapy. Today, one year later, Deborah is cancer free and living her best life! Unlike Deborah hundreds of women in our community do not have insurance nor the means to pay for this life saving cancer screening. With your donation, Horizons can continue providing much needed mammograms to uninsured women. Join me and save a life!

Horizons' first annual “Day for Hope” is April 30th and is a 24-hour fundraising campaign. Make a donation today and provide a mammogram for a friend, family member and neighbor.

Please help me raise $1,000 on or before April 30th.  Horizons Day for Hope accepts any donation amount and it is appreciated.  The minimum online donation is $10.00. Your gift is 100% tax deductible. You will receive a receipt by email or USPS mail.

More Info

During the organizations first annual Horizons “Day for Hope,” a day that leverages the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage generosity and philanthropic participation, every dollar raised will be used locally in South Georgia communities. For example: A one-time gift of $1,200 will provide mammograms for ten women. In addition to medical resources, Horizons also offers the community ongoing education about conditions such as cancer, obesity, diabetes, tobacco control and more.

Horizons has linked together with other organizations and individuals, making it possible to include all community members in Day for Hope. A day-long challenge campaign is scheduled to air on WALB that will include testimonials from patients, physicians, and community leaders.

The Day for Hope will also include a ribbon cutting and open house at the new office located at 2332 Lake Park Drive. Join us to raise Hope for southwest Georgia.
