Update #6

Your investment in B'East Drumline helped us reach the Finals round in Dayton at the WGI World Championships! In our first Open Class competition, B'East Drumline reached the Finals round to place 13th overall -- quite an achievement for an ensemble that had not previously performed in Open Class competition! Our success wouldn't have been possible without the generous contributions from our supporters. Thanks for your support!

More Info

B'East Indoor Drumline is the percussion section of the Belleville East High School Marching Lancers.  They are an exciting and dedicated group of students who are perfecting their music reading, performance and collaboration skills in a demanding and stimulating environment. Studies show that music education provides many benefits, such as enhanced memory and language skills, improved motor and social skills, and improved test scores. Our percussionists practice many long hours on their own and as a group to create powerful music that they perform in competition. These students are developing life skills, gaining confidence, poise and teamwork experience that will take them far in their adult lives. Above all, they are developing an understanding of what it takes to meet a goal through hard work and perseverance.

One such goal is within their reach, and we're asking you to help B'East achieve it.  This year, B'East performers have had tremendous success with their show at local competitions, and now have earned the opportunity to take their competition to a national level. Performing as a group on a national stage will provide these students not only the experience of a lifetime, but also the confidence of being a member of a skilled team competing at the highest level.

As with many such opportunities, the costs are high to put on a national-level show over 350 miles from home, transporting 34 performers, their props and instruments, and housing them during the 3-day competition. Our drumline reflects the socioeconomic diversity of our school, and the school district is not able to cover much of the costs of our program. With over 40% of our student body eligible to receive free/reduced lunch/low income, our program needs help from generous donors to reach this goal. Belleville East Marching Lancers Band Parents is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the band program at Belleville East. The funds you donate will help pay for program costs, travel expenses and show costs needed to enhance the show for national competition. We're asking for your support to help B'East Drumline come out roaring at Nationals!

Update #2

Our show, One Thousand Paper Cranes, is about finding peace and love after a turbulent period, and is based on a beautifully tragic, yet hopeful real-life story . Sharing this message teaches the students empathy and community responsibility. Sharing our message on social media helps us reach our fundraising goals, too. With the support of generous donors, we've reached the 10% mark of our campaign, already -- Thank you! Please share our posts with your social media contacts -- if each person shares our posts and website on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), the chances of reaching our goals increases exponentially. Thanks for your support!
