We, at Kalingabikashi, work closely with labourers, daily wagers, migrant, constructions and naka workers across the labour sector in India. They have no source of income at the moment and most of them are away from their home and families, and also unable to provide for them.

There is a huge shortage of food and basic supplies in different parts of the city as most workers rely on a meagerly daily wage and local hotels to get a thaali of hot food at the end of a hard day's work.

Most of them do not have stoves/kitchen or toilet capacity and facilities within their workshops, wherein they also live and cohabitate. Their gala (shop) is where most of them are quarantined with no recourse for meals or medical assistance. Together we can ensure that they have enough food and water during the pandemic.

We are currently collaborating with wholesale suppliers, kirana stores and different partner organizations on an emergency and demand basis. We have identified key members of the community who will act as coordinators who effectively distribute the ration and supplies.

It would help immensely if you could donate a small amount towards our endeavour to ensure their health and safety by making sure they have enough food and other resources to get through this global crisis.

This is a trying time for all of us but more so for the vulnerable and at-risk key members of our economic and civil society.

Thank you and stay safe!
