PHILANTHROPY:(defined by Wikipedia)

"Love of humanity" in the sense of caring for, nourishing, developing, and enhancing "what it is to be human" on both the benefactors' (by identifying and exercising their values in giving and volunteering) and beneficiaries' (by benefitting) parts. The most conventional modern definition is "private initiatives, for public good, focusing on quality of life"

Dear Philanthropist:

The average person does not consider themself a philanthropist. Typically, we view philanthropist as “rich” people who give to those who will benefit from support. We are all “rich” in God’s favor! As, I re-read the definition it became apparent to me that all individuals can fall into this category by choice of course. I believe that we all possess the quality of giving on some level. I am writing to request monetary giving, to support my family’s quality of life.

My name is Ericka Faison and I am currently a 24 year old junior at FayettevilleUniversity. During my junior year, I was blessed with a beautiful gift, my son Jae'dyn , who is almost 2 years old and thriving. A little less than a year ago, I loss my father, Eric Faison (yes, I am his “name sake”) to Pancreatic cancer. Recently, I celebrated with my younger sister, Maranda, as she became a member of a desired sorority and she will also graduate from college next year. These two experiences have really made me take a deep look at my life and have become the catalyst to my desire to return to college; so I can provide a balanced life for my son and myself. I have settled into being a full time mother also working full time with the support of my family and friends. I am, mentally prepared to return to my studies and obtain my degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Social Work.

I have taken the necessary steps to begin the process over the last couple of months. I have been working diligently to obtain the required documentation needed to be considered for re-enrollment. It is my intention to attend both summer sessions, 2013. During this process the bursar’s office informed me that I have an outstanding loan balance of $1,200.00. Until the balance is paid to the bursars my transcript will not be released. This is the only document preventing me from registering.

One of the greatest life lessons thus far is that it truly does take a village to raise a child and sometimes the mother too. Even though, I “thought” I could do this alone/independently/by myself, I am humbled and relieved to say I can not. Maybe humility has been the greatest lesson thus far. Regardless, I’m writing this letter to ask you to support us by any contributing to my education.

I acknowledge that I am writing to you at the 11th hour, as summer session 1 begins June 3, 2013 and session 2 begins July 8, 2013 however, because I am committed,  I have chosen not to allow that to stop me. I know who is truly in charge. No contribution is too big or small!  Please donate today, all contributions by June 24, 2013.

Simply, click on the link below!Thanking you in Advance!

Sincerely,

Ericka Faison
