On Saturday, November 27th, during the opening weekend of the high school wrestling season, Batavia High School Junior, Eldar Shugayev, suffered a severe injury. While competing in his first-ever wrestling match, Eldar dislocated his knee cap and shifted his Tibia. In doing so, severed major blood vessels in his lower leg including the popliteal artery. He was immediately transported to a local hospital and has been under 24 hour medical care for the past 2 weeks. In short, the injury has had surgeons questioning whether they’ll be able to save Eldar’s leg.
To date, he’s had multiple surgeries. At first, doctors transplanted healthy blood vessels to replace the blood vessels damaged by his injury and he seemed to be on the mend. However, since early last week the amputation of his leg has re-emerged as a very real possibility.
We are asking for your help and support for Eldar and his family . First, we are all praying that the medical team can save his leg and he can make a full recovery. We ask that you keep him, his family and his doctors in your prayers and thoughts.
Secondly, Eldar's road to recovery is going to be long and his family will need our help. We are asking for your financial support to help alleviate the burden this catastrophic injury has visited upon his family without warning at a most difficult time of the year. Whatever you can afford to give is greatly appreciated. Your donation, even just sharing this request with your network of friends, family and contacts, will help Eldar and his family shoulder the overwhelming burden of his recovery, rehab, and the financial costs.
If you have any questions on making a donation, please don't hesitate to reach out by using the "contact" button at the bottom of this screen.
Thank you all very much for your thoughts and support!
