Emi's Medical Fund

Emi's Medical Fund

From Heather Rubio

My Calico, Emi, has a bad sinus infection that has started making her struggle to breathe, it has begun to travel into her right eye now. She is 12 years old so her medical costs are much more than when she was younger.

More Info

We used to be a pack of six, now it's just me and Emi, my Calico kitty. To say we miss her brother and sisters would be an understatement. We do the best we can, she cuddles with me constantly which I love and it definitely helps us both. She sleeps with me every night. We lost her kitty sister Kala 2 years ago and it left her heart broken so she became closer to her brother Phillip. When we lost Phillip, the last of the 3 dogs and the 4th of our pack to cross the rainbow bridge, my heart and soul shattered and her grief was obvious as well, If I wasn't home, and sometimes even if I was, she would be on his blanket. It became just Emi and I March 21 and to see my Emi grieve broke me even more.

I brought Emi to the vaccine clinic in February for her shots and was told she had a slight sinus infection and they felt it wasn't safe to give her her shots and that she needed to see a Vet. I tried to save up the money to get her to the clinic but it seemed that tragedy and unfortunate events just kept coming at me. I finally took myself to the hospital in August  where I became an inpatient in the psych ward for 5 days. After that I was enrolled in an Intense Outpatient Therapy program for 5 weeks in which I graduated September 27. I am now in the process of trying to get my life back together but during this time Emi has gotten much worse. She has difficulty breathing and it looks like the infection has moved into her eye. As she is a senior kitty the blood panel alone is around $300, then you have the vet visit, I was told an X-Ray would possibly be needed, medicines will be needed as well as a follow-up, possibly more than just one follow-up. After the infection is cleared up she will need her shots.

Even if I am lucky enough to get a job tomorrow I will not have the funds soon enough to get her in before it progresses to the point of where I lose her. I don't want to lose her to an infection, so if you are able to help me get her the care she needs I would forever be beyond grateful. She's all I have left and I want to have her live as long as she possibly can. I need her to be able to breathe without struggling, and I need her to feel better because she deserves a great life.

Currently my license is expired, it happened while I was seeking mental health treatment. Fortunately, my Health Plan will send me a voucher to get a new State ID though it does take time. Until then I am unable to get a Job. Any help you are able to provide will be greatly appreciated.
