For the past few months, I’ve been working with Let NY Vote, a grassroots coalition of dozens of organizations coming together to improve New York’s antiquated voting laws. We’ve been getting a lot of encouraging responses from lawmakers in Albany, but like all things in New York, it takes time and pressure and that means money. We’re raising $2,500 to help send volunteers to Albany this Monday (1/14) to meet with legislators as they consider historic reform as well as fund a sustained campaign to make New York a leader in voting rights. That means early voting, automatic voter registration, online and same-day registration, vote by mail, electronic pollbooks, and a whole host of other common sense voting reforms.
