Perhaps you’ve just moved into your first official place, and you want to throw yourself a housewarming party. Or, maybe this isn’t your first go-around, but you feel like your past parties just haven’t reached their maximum potential, so you’re looking for new ideas on how to make sure any future event you host goes off without a hitch. While there is no exact secret formula to making a party successful, unforgettable, and just wicked-fun, there are definitely a few key ingredients that can grease the wheels, so to speak.

Now, it’s important to mention that not every single party is exactly the same, either. Some parties are thrown for a very specific reason or for a unique event. For example, someone’s personal retirement party is going to differ quite significantly from say, someone’s bachelor/bachelorette party. As such, take these suggestions as guidelines, and feel free to make them fit the specifics of the party that you’re throwing, hosting, or putting on.

Snacks and Drinks

Let’s start with the basics; snacks and drinks. No party is going to go anywhere without these essentials. In 2022, there are a plethora of options from which a host can choose to serve in both of these realms. From craft beer options, to wines from local wineries, and of course craft-liquors as well. Beyond that, though, the modern host should offer plenty of other non-alcoholic beverages as well. These can include mixers and waters of course, but can be as extravagant as non-alcoholic craft cocktails made with herbs, or non-alcoholic beers.

As far as snacks go, the type of party may dictate the appropriate snacks. For instance, a pot-luck dinner would make it more appropriate for everyone to prepare a dish and bring something to share, while a Halloween party may involve bowls of candies, a few sheets of pastries, and other crunchy-munchy snacks.

One of the nice things about hosting a party in 2022 is that if you ever run out of drinks, you won’t have to worry about where the liquor store near me is. Instead, you can just go ahead and get some drinks delivered in order to keep the party going and the drinks flowing, all while staying off the road and being a responsible host.

Run With a Theme

Beyond the crucial nature of snacks and drinks, another good way to ensure that you’re throwing a pretty dope party is to run with a theme. There are a plethora of classic party-themes that can give almost any party just a little bit of edge.

It might be worth mentioning that theme-based parties work best either on their own, or in a complimentary fashion to a party being thrown for an existing event or occasion. For example, a Halloween party that is also a costume party works on both levels. However, a thanksgiving dinner party doesn’t mesh so well with a costume-party-theme.

That being said, some fun and classic party themes include; pool-parties, costume parties, ABC or anything-but-clothes parties, toga parties, and the list goes on. Adding a theme to your party can give people a little extra way to participate, making the evening a lot more fun.

Make Sure There’s Music

One of the most important elements for any party, no matter theme, event, or occasion, is making sure that there’s music. In 2022, there are plenty of ways to stream music using Bluetooth and softwares like Spotify, Apple Music, or Amazon Music.

Having a quality sound system and a preselected set of playlists to keep the vibes rolling is absolutely essential to the success and life of any party.

Games or Activities

Another way to increase participation at a party is to include games, activities, or contests. This can be as simple as having a few party games available like Cards Against Humanity, or Would You Rather or can be as complicated as making up your own party games for the group at hand.

No matter how you approach adding games or activities into the evening, this can be an excellent way for a host to make sure that their party is one to remember.

The Right People Make the Party

When it comes down to it, the most important aspect of any party isn’t the food, the drinks, the music, or anything else mentioned so far. Really, the people make the party. Having the right group of people gathered together is what truly makes a party memorable. Whether you’re getting together with your closest friends, or you’re sharing a day with just your family, the people always make the party.

No matter the occasion, the event, or the theme, everyone likes a good party from time-to-time.
