More Info

New year’s eve of 2015 changed 6-year-old Natalie’s life forever. Who knew a strange bruise would lead to a surprise diagnosis of AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). Natalie was admitted to Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg that day and chemotherapy was started January 2nd, 2016. The Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg is about 45 minutes away from Natalie and her family’s rural home in Woodlands, MB. Extended family has been able to help get Natalie’s older brother, Zachary, to and from school while Natalie’s parents remain as active supports at her bedside.

Natalie is a very bubbly and bright 6-year-old Grade 1 student, who attends Woodlands Elementary School. Even after diagnosis, she continues to maintain the same bubbly character, making it much harder to accept why this little girl has been dealt such an awful disease.

Natalie’s mother, Alysha, is a full-time nursing student, 5 months away from graduating. She has been attending school for the past 2.5 years, while Natalie’s father, Randy, works to support the family of 4. After Natalie’s diagnosis, Randy took unpaid leave to become Natalie’s bedside caregiver while Alysha made the extremely difficult decision to go between hospital and classes/clinical to finish her degree. This family’s only source of income has now stopped and they need our help so that they can focus on Natalie’s health.

During this time, we want to make it as easy as possible for Alysha and Randy to focus on getting Natalie well again as well as keeping her brother Zachary well cared for. The financial burdens of getting Natalie through treatments will be quite high, but together we can help. All donations will go directly to Alysha and Randy and are extremely appreciated
