On June 1st, Capital City Pharmacy, a small, Black owned company on Georgia Street in Vallejo, was broken into and raided.
Capital City Pharmacy is one of several Black-owned businesses that have served Vallejo, California for years. Capital City Pharmacy is a small dream that a family spent years realizing, opening, and maintaining. They're an essential business, and provide the community with supplies needed to survive the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before going on, we want to clarify: we understand the pain that led to some destruction of local community businesses. We stand by those who seek justice for George Floyd, whose life was taken by police officers on May 25, 2020. We encourage you to protest and contribute to honoring Mr. Floyd’s memory, if you are willing and able.
Your donation to this fund will help Capital City Pharmacy replace items they need to safely operate. This includes the front door, the rolling security gate, and the front windows. Any funds raised beyond the cost of these items will go to La Clinica Vallejo, a not-for-profit community health center.
Capital City Pharmacy’s motto is “We Care!” On their website, the owner and managing pharmacist says, “Providing quality compassionate care is our calling... It is always rewarding for me when we can provide the care that makes a positive difference.”
This community fund is a reminder that the people of Vallejo are strong. We’ll support the Black-owned businesses that have served them for years.
