My husband is amazing - he is the best husband, dad, and school teacher ever! Many years ago, he was involved in an accident and now lives with quadriplegia and navigates life from a manual wheelchair.
Due to his mobility challenges, it is virtually impossible for us to enjoy many outdoor activities as a family. We live in a beach community and he loves the beach, but safely getting him onto the beach requires assistance from 2 or more strong people - sometimes friends, sometimes strangers! He often stays behind at home and enjoys the sun from the deck while we go to the beach or on an off road hike.
Enter: Freedom Trax! This all terrain wheelchair attachment would enable him to safely, easily, and independently navigate off road surfaces - including sand! It would also decrease the burden placed on me on our very seldom beach days. It is A LOT of work dragging him onto the beach in addition to all of our belongings and our child!
The major barrier to this amazing technology is the cost. Unfortunately, these types of mobility products are very expensive and this is way out of our reach. I am hesitant to ask for donations, but if you know him, you know that he deserves this more than anyone! I'm willing to put myself out there for him.
I hope we can come together and give this amazing guy the gift of freedom, independence, and beach days with his daughter! These are things that so many of us take for granted on a daily basis.
