Getting Girls in School

Globally, much attention has been given to the lack of educational opportunities for girls. In Kenya, early or forced marriage, unaffordable school fees, sexual violence, and the natural monthly occurrence of their menstrual cycle often limit girls’ educational opportunities.

In Kenya, girls miss an average of 4-9 days of school each month due to a lack of access to sanitary napkins. Girls limited access to education reinforces gender inequalities. As a result, women traditionally have limited involvement in national and community decisions even when they are directly impacted.

Your support will help girls in Asembo Village and Kisumu slums in Western Kenya have access to sanitary napkins and secondary school scholarships.  

Here are some examples of what your donation can provide:

-$25 – personal supplies (soap, toilet paper, laundry detergent)

-$50 – a school uniform, physical education uniform, and school supplies

-$100 – school books for eight girls

-$200 – a mattress, set of sheets, a blanket, and a trunk for two girls at boarding school

-$750 – a year of high school
