Fentanyl is finding our youth. A clever response to the current opioid epidemic in America is my children's book. The goal is to build this story into a contemporary DARE program. The funds will be used for marketing.

My name is Kalisha Eddington aka Dr. Moose. I have a background in behavioral health (detox) and I am a mother of four. I lost a close relative to fentanyl poisoning in 2021.
Opioid addiction is a national emergency. Per the Centers for Disease Control, opioids—mainly synthetic opioids (other than methadone)—are currently the main driver of drug overdose deaths. Opioids were involved in 46,802 overdose deaths in 2018 (69.5% of all drug overdose deaths).
In 2017 the National Survey on Drug Use and Health estimated that about 769,000 children aged 12 to 17 misused opioids and about 14,000 used heroin in the past year, the survey did not discuss how many children and adolescents may have died from using these drugs as a result. Illegal fentanyl use is on the rise.
