Update #1

After getting second opinions and last minute openings, Norah is going to be going into surgery this week! We are nervous but very optimistic and the surgeon comes highly recommended. He has outlined the process for recovery in depth and we feel comfortable with the process.

There is still quite a gap between what money we have available and the total cost of the procedure (over $5K), so if you feel moved to help or share, we would definitely appreciate it!

More Info

Our puppy Norah has a torn ligament in her knee that needs fixing. Unfortunately, the surgery (a TPLA) to repair it is extremely expensive, and with all of our debt, we are not in a position to pay the full cost ourselves. Of course our beloved pet takes precedence over paying off old debt, but this has put us into a challenging position. Currently, our best option is to take out additional loans/lines of credit to cover the cost of the procedure, which we are more than willing to do, but will be very difficult to pay off.

We are doing our absolute best to save up as quickly as possible, but the longer we wait for this procedure, the more damage her joints will sustain, and likely result in her other knee developing problems as well. She is only 3, but these problems will cause her early arthritis and a lot of pain for the rest of her life if not addressed now.

The only thing we can do right now is severely limit her running, jumping, and generally having fun. If you've met Norah, you know that the first thing she does when one of her friends comes to visit is zoom around the entire house until she tires herself out! After spending most of her life in the city without much space, we were finally able to move out to the suburbs and got a big yard which she loves to run around in. It's pretty sad for us to have to keep her still all the time, because we know she is happiest when she can run around!

Our first thoughts were never to ask others for financial help, especially during such a challenging time for so many. We are embarrassed to ask, but recognize that Norah's health should come before our pride, and we just don't have the means to get this done in a timely manner.

That is why we are asking for those who love Norah to give any small amount that can help us get her this procedure soon, so that she can be on the road to recovery quickly, and back to her old self, ready to enjoy a long, happy, and active life! And we, her parents, will be extremely grateful for any help we can get to mitigate these costs.

We all thank you in advance for your help, thoughts, and kind words!
