Help Jasper Get His Hips Fixed!

From Kaitlin M

Jasper is my sweet & adorable 11 month old lab/hound that I adopted in June, 2020. We just found out three days ago that he will have to undergo double hip surgery for severe hip dysplasia.

Here is Jasper's X-Ray from 1/18/21. This shows that his hips are severely displaced and causing pain. Even though he does not show it on a normal basis, if we move his leg in a certain way, he does cry.
He has trouble standing up quickly and bunny hops when he runs.

More Info

Jasper is a rescue I got in June,2020. He was born in February, 2020, making him 5 months when I adopted him. For 5 months, he was in a kill shelter where they (most likely based on his behaviors when I got him) was left in a cage most of the time. This most likely caused his hips to improperly form, causing the hip dysplasia at such a young age.

Jasper was petrified to come out of the cage for a month and a half after I adopted him. We worked everyday to get him out, and as soon as he was comfortable, we were on walks outside. It took a lot of dog training and love, but we finally got him out.

Now that he goes to Doggy Daycare (which he loves), I began to notice that he ran differently than other big dogs and he was not as active as them. This was concerning to me, so I brought him to the vet.

Jasper is the sweetest, most gentle dog you will ever meet. He has never bit anyone or growled even once. He just wants love and attention all the time.

These funds will allow Jasper to finally become the dog he always should have been. I want him to know that the pain he is feeling isn't normal, and I want him to get back to going to daycare where he can play like the other dogs, and not be in pain.

Any contributions will LITERALLY make me cry. I am the biggest baby and usually don't ask for stuff like this. Unfortunately, this was unexpected and costly- but anything goes for my baby to have a great life. I thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Love,

Kaitlin & Jasper
