Hello all, I am trying to raise enough money to buy an Orcam. I am visually impaired and can't see in sunlight without being in extreme pain. Being able to read signs and books outside would be lifechanging for me.

What is an Orcam?
An Orcam is a wearable Assistive Technology Device For The Blind and Visually Impaired. Using it in my life would mean being able to recognize faces, signs, and products which I struggle with outdoors. Having the chance to recognize items outdoors would improve my independence while visually impaired and bring some relief to my family. Being an environmentalist, marine biologist, and a fun-loving college student I want to participate outdoors, but can't always be there when I want to.
The Cost:
This thing is not cheap. And honestly, it's a shame because there are hundreds of people like me who would benefit from this technology. Unfortunately, it is not an item that I can afford, as it is not covered by any means of insurance at this time. Until companies stop trying to profit from disabilities, crowdsourcing is the only option at this point.
