Sean (aka Leyton Parker) has planned this trip (to a work-related conference) for months. He's invested nearly $800 in registration and private consult fees, and put in hours and hours on his portfolio. (You can see much of his art here and here.)
But because a few clients haven't yet paid their invoices (money he counted on to get him there), he's unable to cover the cost of the plane ticket from Portland to L.A., or his housing and food while he's attending.
If he can't go, he'll lose out on all that he's already invested. (The ticket is only partially refundable.)
As a recent college grad, he's had a hard time finding regular work. He was hoping that attending this event might get him closer to realizing his dream as children's book illustrator.
The kid SO needs a break here.
