Help The Gleba Family

From Kaylah Gleba

We're raising money to send our family to Ohio so that the surgeon who performed Dom's first two surgeries can perform his third and final open-heart surgery.

Our journey so far...

In January of 2015 we found out we were pregnant with our first child. At 16 weeks he was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). The left side of his heart didn't develop and he would need three open-heart surgeries to survive. He would be fighting for his life from day one. So, for the remainder of the pregnancy we researched everything we could on his diagnosis and the surgeries and prepared ourselves as much as we could. On October 1st, Dominick was born. He was taken to All Children's Hospital to be monitored and prepare for his first surgery. Six days later, on October 7th, he underwent his first open-heart surgery called the Norwood. Two months later he had recovered enough to finally go home. We waited four more months and at six months old, April 7th, 2016, he had his second open-heart surgery called the Glenn. About a week later we went home. Now, a little over two years later, we are preparing for his third and final open-heart surgery, the Fontan. His first two surgeries we done by one surgeon, who has since moved out of state and now works on Ohio at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital. We are trying to get our family there so that he can perform his finally surgery. In this line of work, it's best for the surgeon who did the first two surgery to perform the last one as well. We're going to have to jump through hoops with the insurance and that hospital to get everything approved. So, we're raising money to make sure we can get our family there and home without breaking us. We're already in a bit of a tight spot since we are being forced to move out the end of June and do not have a "permanent" place to live yet. We thank you for any and all support for our family through this tough time.
