Help the Shams Family Get Out of Afghanistan

My name is Heather Shaughnessy.  My father, Kevin Shaughnessy was in the Army and was stationed in Afghanistan in the mid 2,000’s.  A few years ago, my family was able to sponsor one of my dad’s translators, Fareed Shams to move to the US from Afghanistan.  Fareed is now family to us.  Fareed’s brothers Hamed and Mansour Shams as well as two of Fareed's Brothers-in Law were also translators and have applied for SIV (Special Immigrant Visas) for Afghans who were employed by/on behalf of the US government.  The applications were submitted weeks ago but have not yet been processed.  We are hopeful that they will be accepted and we can get them out of Afghanistan. 

Right now, we are focusing on getting Fareed’s sister, Shabana Shams, out of Afghanistan.  Shabana's husband was a translator working with the US. Shabana just graduated from university and wants to become a teacher but because of the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan she will be unable to teach.  She is severely depressed and despondent over her future now.  We also are trying to bring the rest of Fareed’s family over to the US (He has three brothers and four sisters in total and some have families of their own).  I am starting this fund to help raise money to help the Shams family flee the Taliban in Afghanistan.
