On July 13, 2023, a destructive storm described as “straight line winds” (2023) ravaged the Eastside and Fairview neighborhoods in Lansing, MI. As a result of this storm, a huge tree fell on top of my son’s vehicle, which is the only form of transportation that him and his family have. The winds ripped a maple tree out of the ground, causing the tree to fall and wreck and destroy his recently bought Chevy Impala. The tree had very small roots due to the lack of inadequate space for the roots to grow strong in the tree’s environment. His daughters are both growing up quickly, which means they need to travel around to different cities for adequate medical care because many healthcare providers and doctors in the Lansing Area do not take their insurance. This is a traumatic and life-changing event, leaving many other people that they help and care for in a position of need as well, such as relatives and loved ones. They hope to reach a goal of $2000 and use these donations to start again by moving forward and relying on the love and warmth provided by others, family, friends, and people alike.
