Five years ago this month my husband and I spent every penny we had to move all three of our children in the middle of a snowstorm in December. Why were we so crazy? An opportunity had come up that allowed us to get a very cheap home in one of the best school districts in our state. The new location would be closer to my husband‘s work, closer to Grocery stores, and best of all closer to the university of Michigan Hospital, where my youngest had lived the first 3 1/2 months of her life (my youngest had been born four months early and weighed 1 lbs. 9 oz., the doctors didn’t let us know she would survive until she was two years old). The opportunity was an odd one, one of my husband‘s coworkers was moving into his mother‘s home to help care for her and he had a old home in a trailer park, he was still having to pay the lot rent on the old house and it was making him desperate to sell it for cheap. We got it for $5000, while other homes in the neighborhood were going for 54,000 and up! Our plan was to live in this home and save money until our children had graduated from high school then we would start looking for our dream home in the woods somewhere. However, things are not turning out that way. The first few years living here we managed to save several thousand dollars and I thought we were headed in the right direction, however, groceries have gone up, lot rent has gone up utilities have gone up and now we are going to start paying for water as our park has installed new meters (water that comes out brown and smelling of iron, we usually have to buy our drinking water).it seems we are trapped, unable to
