Joining Hands Nepal

Joining Hands Nepal family orphan home was founded in 2010 by Himal Waiba on the simple belief that the single greatest need of any child is love. His goal was not to merely provide food, shelter, and education to orphaned children of Nepal, but to provide them with a loving family home environment. The success of this project has not been measured just in the improved health, English profiency, and exam results of the children, but in their smiling faces, their openness, and their love and support for one another.

ForWorld Thinking

ForWorld Thinking was founded in 2011 by Eric Roache to support local and sustainable service projects in developing countries through long-term partnership. The model is based on the belief that there are passionate individuals who wish to serve their communities all over the world, and if the global community can help empower them to provide innovative solutions to local problems, the solutions will be more sustainable and relevant to the communities being served.

A Home of Their Own

For the past 2 years, Joining Hands Nepal has been renting space in a house in Panauti, Nepal. While it has been a good home for them, it does not provide any room to grow for the organization. The home currently cares for 8 children, but is looking to expand over the next year. With this new land, not only can they build a home of their own to accomodate more children and volunteers, but it will leave room for an outdoor play area and garden to grow their own food. In addition, it will offer the opporunity to begin the process of developing a new community resource center which will work with and within the community on important issues such as environmental conservation and health management.

More to come!

Co-Investment in the Future

A major part of the ForWorld Thinking model is co-investment with our local partners. We do not just want to just give handouts, but to have our partners and their communities equally invested in the success of the organization. As a result, we have worked with Joining Hands Nepal to secure local investment partners within the community, including a member of the local school's board of directors, for this land acquisition. Help us help Joining Hands Nepal to make a place where they can build for the future.
