About Me

"Once is not enough" is the slogan of the Nepal Tourism Board. I agree. When I traveled to Nepal in October 2011 for my first Habitat for Humanity Global Village build, I knew my teammates and I would be making a difference: Nepal is one of the world's poorest countries - 45% of the people live in poverty. Nearly one quarter live on the equivalent of less than $1 per day. Houses are often dilapidated and hazardous. Many lack proper sanitation, clean water and electricity. However, there is beauty to the country and in the simple lifestyle many of these people live. It made a lasting impact on me. Last year I challenged friends and family to help me raise $2,000, the cost of a basic Habitat for Humanity house in Nepal. The gratitude of others overwhelmed me; I raised nearly $2,400. I will return to Nepal this Thanksgiving to help build that house and others as part of another Global Village team. Keeping the Thanksgiving spirit in mind, I am hoping to raise $3,000 this year. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to help bring hope to Nepali families this holiday season. And please keep my teammates and me in your thoughts as we travel to Nepal this November. Once really is not enough.

More Info

Approximately 90 percent of Nepal’s 22 million people live in the rural plains and mountain areas, primarily as subsistence farmers. Forty-five percent of Nepal’s population lives below the poverty line, with one child in every 10 dying before the age of 5.

Habitat for Humanity Nepal had served 7,650 families since its work began in 1997. HFH Nepal’s goal is to reach our 10,000th family by year’s end. We need your help to make it happen!

We invite you to join our Global Village team in partnering with these families in need to help build safe, affordable, decent homes. There are many ways to be a part of this project. About Habitat for Humanity International

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 1,300 communities throughout the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
