My dog Kira has been battling with Cushing's Disease (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cushing's_disease) for over a year now. It's been a stressful, time consuming, frustrating, financial battle. She has her ups and downs, but recently it's been mostly down. I've had Kira since she was 8 wks old (she just turned 9). She goes everywhere with me. Does everything with me. And is one of the best dogs I've ever had.
Most of you have probably met Kira (especially if you know me). She doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She loves diving for rocks in the river and eating like a pig.
I've never asked for help financially in my life. Now that we have to go to the specialists it's definitely put a hole in my pocket. I'm used to not living with much regardless, but these last few months have been rough. (I've probably spent well over $4,000 in the last year)
Right now we have to see the vet about once a month, sometimes twice, resulting in about $500 for the medication/tests.
....if anything, if I do have to put her down, I would like to cremate her, which usually costs around $400.
Anything helps, even a dollar, I really appreciate all the love and support I've gotten from my friends and family over this last year, it means the world to me. Thank you.
