My name is Heather Carmichael, and for many of those who already know me, I am a lover of beautiful things. While I go all out to support talented people, I also take bold stands against injustice and unfavorable acts... 

This campaign is medical karma and my way of helping to pay my good health and luck forward to us all. 

In one way or another, we may have shared experiences or challenges with Tona, and as humans who have also been taken advantage of by the sharks in our society. We owe it to each other to support and encourage one another in our deepest times of need and despair.

Let me introduce you to a medical marvel and fantastic photographer who has defied all odds since beating childhood leukemia, contracting Hepatitis C through a blood transfusion, and then surviving a medical emergency during Covid in December 2020 when there was not a single public hospital bed available. Tona has an amazing, single Mom, and I am thrilled to be on Team Tona today. Will you please join us? 

Tona’s Current Predicament

While Tona pushes hard to get back to doing what he does best, the excruciating weight of unfair financial policies has continually held him down. His high-interest medical debt which was acquired during a life-saving surgery at a private hospital in Mexico was sold out to BBVA MX. 

This is not the US… this is Mexico and terrible things can happen. It’s dangerous to owe this kind of money to people. We need to pay this off in one year... How can you help?

Despite all his attempts to pay it down, the unfair 37.8% interest rate has continually drowned all his efforts as the accrued interests continue to rise rapidly. Tona deserves better!

As a person who lives by the Aztec proverb “ga’ca shisha sicarú ni qui huayuu, guiuuni ti biine’ni,” which means, “To do something beautiful that did not exist before, may exist through me,” I am calling on people from diverse parts of the world to support Tona through his photographic intelligence.

Tona has put out some of his amazing works and offered to share his talents as a means to appreciate everyone out there, who spares a thought towards helping him get through these hard times.

• Donors who support with $60 will have an outstanding print art mailed to them

• Donors who support with $75 will receive video editing services which will be suitable for kids or non-profit organizations

• Donors who support Tona with $100 will get a family/kids photography or video editing lesson on zoom or in person.

• Donors who support Tona with $150 will get two professional video edits that can be used by top-tier organizations or a landscape photography lesson via zoom or in-person.

• Donors and their families or teammates who support Tona with $200 will share a photography session with Tona at Playa Del Carmen

• You can also enjoy the chance to meet Tona and share a day trip to Mayan Ruins, or jointly plan a family outing with Tona if you reach out to us through this campaign to make a dedicated donation.

Through this campaign, we are looking to raise the sum of $9000USD, (Equivalent to 180,000 MX Pesos), and all the donations received will go towards paying off Tona’s medical debt at BBVA MX so he can live a debt and stress-free life.

We’re calling on well-meaning lovers of art and people who speak against financial injustice through high-interest loans. It’s time to save Tona, and it’s up to us to make this happen.
