I’m a single mom and a full time nursing student, and I’m on a mission to overcome these challenges I’ve been facing.
Completing nursing school as a parent poses unique challenges that students without children may not face. Coordinating daycare arrangements, making time to complete homework, and financially supporting my child while in school comprise just a few of the challenges that I face each day. I am not going to sugarcoat things because it’s more helpful to know the truth.. Nursing school can be demanding both physically and mentally, so it’s something I've acknowledged and have accepted. I can’t tell you the number of times when I thought I couldn’t carry on any longer. I faced both financial, physical, and emotional stress, but I never seriously thought about quitting. Instead, I keep pressing forward, believing that I will make it in spite of all the hurdles.Nursing school is hard enough as it is, but having to deal with the lack of financial support makes it even harder. But, I have set out on a mission to change that mentality and to keep moving forward in hopes of achieving a better life for me and my daughter. I’m just hoping that I can find the extra help I need to make that dream come true.
