About The Team

A day after my fifth birthday, a police officer came to our front door to inform my mother that my father had been transferred by ambulance to the hospital. He had been found on the side of the road in his pick-up truck with the assumption that he was just intoxicated, a drunk, a nobody.  No, my father was a somebody.  Somebody’s son, husband, and somebody’s father. He had not been drinking but returning from working a grueling shift as a leader of a construction crew that had him traveling almost daily from county to county in our great state.  I later learned that in the 70s my father and his crew were responsible for much of road maintenance in Florence, South Carolina.  My father was more than just a somebody.  He was a provider, a stabilizer, and the silent powerful patriarch in our family.  He was a father of six with my mother, and he deeply loved all six of us. Today and every day, I dedicate my work in fatherhood to him and the legacy he left with us.

More Info

As COVID-19 continues, the importance of mental health remains vital. Statistics show that 57% of men who have mental health issues are fathers. That is why our team is looking to raise $7,000 for mental health that will ultimately add to the well being of our fathers and their families. By taking care of their mental health, our fathers will be able to improve their relationships with their families and be able to have the right mindset to achieve their personal goals. Statistics also show that nearly 20% of new dads are diagnosed with an anxiety disorder when a new baby arrives.  It is important that we put a focus on mental health to raise awareness and show the importance of getting help when experiencing mental health issues.
