Our Boy Kevin - Help our son live a full life!

Hello, we are the proud parents of Kevin Yuill, our names are Jade and David.

Ollie, is currently 2 years old, and was born with a rare and very complex genetic condition. There is nothing we could do about his diagnosis, and there is no cure or drugs that limit the affect the syndrome has on Ollie. His condition, Phelan McDermid, is well known to include regression, meaning Ollie could lose skills he has spent years learning, which is a very scary prospect and means we need to consolidate all of our hard work so far to keep Ollie progressing at a steady rate. So, as a family we MUST ensure we are doing our very best to support Ollie with his needs and aids to secure best development and early intervention. Ollie, after years of intense CME therapy is independently walking, something that was never a given as he has such low tone across his body. This is the first year we have not had a winter hospital stay, also credited to the CME therapy for strengthening up his tone in his chest as well as his legs. It is vital that early intervention takes place and whilst the NHS have been great at times, the wait times are lengthy - if the appointments actually come.

As a family, we have spent thousands and thousands on private CME movement therapy, private speech and language, hydrotherapy and many aids to help Ollie. We currently need to redecorate his room to make it safe for the next couple of years due to his sleep disorder, we now need to make the whole room safe to sleep in as he is often wide awake at night. We would love to try hippotherapy, AAC devices to give Ollie a meaningful way to communicate as he is currently non verbal, and purchase an off-road specialist wheelchair/pram (starting at £2.5k !!) so we can continue our love for the outdoors with walks in country parks and on the beaches of Broadstairs. But, our pot of money for Ollie is running very, very low. So, even though this is something we didn’t think we would do, we want to reach out to our nearest and dearest to support us in our mission to raise funds to make Ollie’s life as fulfilled as possible.

We are proposing to complete challenges in order to fundraise for Our Boy Oliver and we encourage any friend or family member to put forward a challenge and complete it in aid of Ollie. If you are up for doing a challenge and have an idea - contact us ASAP!

Isabella is doing a 12hr Danceathon.

Ruby and Jade are walking a marathon in a month.

David is still working on his and open to suggestions!

We even have word that family members may be up for climbing a mountain or two in Oliver’s honour - wow!

Thank you so much for reading this far!
