I was on my way to see one of my best friends today when I got a call that she was in an emergency situation because her puppy jumped out of the window of her moving car.
Amanda rescued Leo from a high kill shelter a few months ago. Leo is deaf, and requires extra attention to begin with- he is very playful but due to being deaf has issues with sensory functioning.
As Amanda pulled onto her street today in Los Angeles, Leo got excited and stood up to look out the window, but somehow fell out and landed on the asphalt. He cracked his femur in half. Amanda is now faced with a $3000 vet expense as Leo will receive surgery tomorrow to repair her leg. The only other option Leo was given was full leg amputation.
Just last week, Amanda rescued another dog, 11 year old Dax, from a high kill shelter in LA. If you know Amanda, you know that this is not unusual and she is always fostering dogs, volunteering at shelters, and rescuing dogs who are otherwise not deemed great contenders for adoption. Of course, Amanda did not choose to amputate Leo’s leg, which has left her with a bill of $3000. This was an extremely shocking and unfortunate accident but we are very grateful Leo will be able to heal and walk again.
