My name is Quinn Rocco, I am 14 years old and I am apart of Las Vegas All Stars, the biggest D2 competitive cheerleading gym in the state. We are currently in season 11 and just earned a prestigious invitation only bid for an end of season event in Orlando, Florida on May 8-May 12.
What is Competitive Cheerleading you may ask? If you don’t live within the world of Competitive Cheerleading as I do, one might wonder what the sport even is. We do not cheer at football games or pep rallies, (we are not in relation with school cheer), we travel around the US and compete against the very best. I spend 9 hours, 4 days a week in inside a gym practicing and preparing for a 2 minute and 30 second routine that will decipher whether we’re the best.
What I love about Competitive Cheer is not only the discipline in making sure my health and body is in its best possible condition, but being apart of a team knowing I need to work hard and do my part to win. We are not just a team, we are a family and with the tumbling and stunts we do in level 3, we have each others well-being in our hands. We need to show up for each other and most importantly, trust each other. I have also learned that females can be strong AND beautiful, the conditioning involved is intense and I can absolutely arm wrestle and beat most boys my age. =) COMMITMENT! When we are sick, we show up, when we are hurt, we show up, when I had hernia surgery, I showed up the next day to support (not participate). "Not feeling like it" isn't an option or a feeling we can use for an excuse. We learn that hard work doesn’t always win the first time, but if we never give up, it DOES pay off.
I am on 2 teams this season and with all our dedication and hard work we’ve earned an At Large and Wild Card bid to one of the most sought after end of season events to crown the best of the best, D2 Summit in Orlando Florida. These costs are not planned for as all our other travel is, so I am currently fundraising and seeking sponsorship/donations to help my parents out.
Any help is incredibly appreciated and I have listed out the price of certain things for those that are interested.
