As board member of the Midlands Fatherhood Coalition and someone that has benefited personally from services that the Fatherhood provides I wanted to take a moment and share with you how the Fatherhood has made a positive impact in my life and my daughter's. In 2016 my then 12 year old daughter, Cora was living with her mom and her mom's boyfriend in Chapin. The boyfriend was not a good guy and subsequently my daughter wanted to live with me in Lexington. I had duel custody but the divorce decree stated that my daughter was to live with her mom. I called the attorney that handled my divorce and he informed me that it would cost $7500.00 or more and take at least six months to get a judge to hear the case. I did not have $7500.00 and did not have six months, that same day I called Jermaine Johnson from the Fatherhood and with the help of two other Fatherhood employees we were able to get an affidavit written and approved by a judge allowing my daughter to live with me. This took less than 36 hours and was absolutely free! My daughter is doing great in school and athletics and our bond as father and daughter could not be more strong, I am so thankful for the Fatherhood Coalition and so very proud to see how they are impacting fathers, children and families in the midlands.
