About Me

I am an Elementary Education major studying at Howard Community College in Columbia Maryland. I have worked with habitat before, but I am very excited to reach out to other cultures in need of help, and learn more about the people in Nepal. As an Education major I hope to travel the world, teach in many different places, and be taught in many different places, about different cultures. I work as a nanny part time, and love my job, because even though my family only has a 10 month old, I know I am helping him progress and learn. I am very dedicated to my job, my family, and school work, and this trip will definitely be a great experience to learn new things, meet new people, and just help others, which is probably my favorite things to do. I am always told I need to stop putting myself last, but it makes me happy to see others happy.

More Info

Approximately 90 percent of Nepal’s 22 million people live in the rural plains and mountain areas, primarily as subsistence farmers. Forty-five percent of Nepal’s population lives below the poverty line, with one child in every 10 dying before the age of 5.

Habitat for Humanity Nepal had served 7,650 families since its work began in 1997. HFH Nepal’s goal is to reach our 10,000th family by year’s end. We need your help to make it happen!

We invite you to join our Global Village team in partnering with these families in need to help build safe, affordable, decent homes. Thank you for becoming a part of the Global Village experience!

Global Village is Habitat for Humanity’s international volunteer program. Teams travel to over 40 countries to work alongside communities, build housing solutions, and experience local culture. Our goal is to change the lives of the people we serve, as well as the lives of the volunteers.

About Habitat for Humanity International

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 1,300 communities throughout the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
