I'm raising money to fly our healthy dogs to Canada before the CFIA bans all travel of dogs coming from Honduras on September 28. The cost of flights to send the dogs are extremely high.
The CFIA in Canada is banning dogs to travel from countries that are considered high risk for rabies and unfortunately Honduras is on that list. I live on Utila, a small island off the coast of Honduras and we have not had any issues with rabies on this island. Because we are considered Honduras that doesn't matter. I volunteer at Jasper's Animal Shelter and without the ability to send dogs to Canada the shelter will become overrun with animals and we won't be able to help them all. I am volunteering to take the trip to Canada and bring a dog with me but the costs of travel are very expensive. If I can raise enough money to travel I will be able to save one of the shelter dogs before the ban is put into place. With everything we raise we will be able to send some dogs by car by a transport service that costs 1 thousand dollars per dog. Every little bit helps us to send our dogs to good homes.
